The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Lagos State chapter has raised the alarm over the influx of criminals into the state saying the All Progressives Congress (APC) has been importing thugs from outside the state and country.
The reason, according to PDP, is to get a mammoth crowd for President Muhammadu Buhari who will be campaigning in the state on Saturday.
The statement signed by Taofik Gani, Director of Media and Publicity, Lagos Campaign Council said APC will be held responsible if there is breakdown of law and order after the rally.
”The Lagos state PDP has called on Lagosians to hold the APC responsible for any eventual increase in crime in the state, especially after the visit of the president and the APC candidate, to Lagos”
“The PDP posits that the APC in its desperate bid to give the president semblance of mammoth crowd at its rally, has now brought in many non Lagos voters from outside the state and even outside the country”
”According to the PDP, these persons are seen entering the state in trailers, buses and trains. Some are now lodged in schools, NYSC camp and premises of government agencies. they will be facilitated into the city from 6am tomorrow”.
“The PDP particularly claim that the free train rides announced by the APC is diversionary as it is just a means to transport the “mercenaries” into Lagos state.
“Many of these paid supporters now from as far as neighbouring countries are going to remain in Lagos and without any means of livelihood they will eventually become criminals in the state. We therefore call on security agencies to be on red alert just as we call on lagosians to hold the APC responsible for the imminent rise in crime following this swell in immigration”
“The PDP wonders why the APC is so desperate in its preparations so much that it is increasing in its penchant to be inconsiderate to Lagosians in its decision making.”
