Real Madrid Make 131 Million Bid For Eden Hazard

Spanish giants, Real Madrid, have re-opened their pursuit of Chelsea star, Eden Hazard, a report has said.

According to Bleacher Report, the European champions approached the London club with $131 million for the Belgian before re-appointing Zinedine Zidane as manager on Monday.

Zidane returned to the Santiago Bernabeu after leaving 10 months ago. He replaced Santiago Solari, who was dismissed after strings of unimpressive losses, including a back-to-back El clasico defeat to Barcelona, and a disgraceful exit from the Champions League in the hands of Dutch side, Ajax.

It was reported that Hazard has not given any indication that he will sign the £300,000-per-week improved contract Chelsea have offered him.

The report further said the former Lille forward, who has a little more than one year left on his contract, would see the Frenchman’s return to Madrid as a key factor in a potential move to the Spanish capital club.

More so, Matt Law of the Telegraph wrote “Real have made a proposal to Chelsea.”

The 28-year-old spoke of his desire to play for Real in October 2018, when he suggested he would have to move to La Liga if he wanted to win the Ballon d’Or.

Zidane is a huge fan of Hazard, and had complimented him in 2015, saying: “After Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo, Hazard is my favourite player. I love watching him because he is a player who creates things, and it is often spectacular to see him play. Do I see him going to Real Madrid? Ask someone else. I love the player and that’s all.”

The 1998 World Cup winner was said to have asked Chelsea to convince the player to stay at the club as one of his conditions when he was approached as replacement for then under fire coach, Mauricio Sarri.

Zidane has signed a contract at Real till June 2022. And there have been reports that he would be given up to £300 million to restructure his team this summer.

Gareth Bale, 29, and Luka Modric, 33, are considered as potential assets, who could be sold to free up further funds for Hazard’s potential deal.
