With the 2019 general elections months away, the campaign for votes is already tearing the polity apart, and this time, the man in the middle is Bashir El-Rufai, son of Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai.
Bashir, a staunch defender of President Muhammadu Buhari, touched the tiger’s tail when he waded in the raging dispute between the president and ex-President Olusegun Obasanjo.
This comes as Obasanjo raised the alarm that the Buhari-led administration was planning to arrest and detain him on trumped up charges, drawing strong reactions from the Peoples Democratic Party and former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar.
While the ruling All Progressives Congress has, through the Minister of Information, Lai Mohammed dismissed Obasanjo’s claims as baseless, Bashir poured gasoline in the fire by going after the former president and his once estranged deputy.
Taking to his Twitter handle Saturday, Bashir said: “Only a common enemy like Buhari can make Obasanjo and Atiku friends again. The unholy merger is dead on arrival.”
His rather impertinent contrition on the matter didn’t go down well with Nigerians on the social media platform, as many took pains to remind him that his father was an ‘unknown’ before the Obasanjo administration thrust him to national fame.
Others even questioned his ‘sanity’, even as he met them with retorts of his own.

Lmao and the same Obasanjo brought ur father to limelight. You may not like his face but don’t get involve when the big boys play. Ur father once took Buhari to the cleaners now he is singing his praises. Well that has always been his character so no surprises.
