Tottenham Hotspurs star man, Harry Kane, missed training on Wednesday with a knock, raising concerns over his availability in Sunday’s derby encounter with North London rivals Arsenal.
Kane, along with Erik Lamela and summer signings Sergio Reguilon and Carlos Vinicius, were missing when Jose Mourinho’s team took to training ahead of their Thursday night engagement in the Europa League away at Linz ASK.
Speaking about their absence during his press conference ahead of Thursday night’s action, Mourinho confirmed the quartet are injured, with Lamela having been sidelined for the last five games with a calf injury
“I don’t believe he [Lamela] has a chance for the weekend,” Mourinho said.
“Harry, Vinicius, and Sergio there is a chance for them to be [fit] for the weekend.”
Mourinho did not state the nature of Kane’s injury but insisted there was a “good chance” the striker would be back in time for the crunch tie with Arsenal.
“I’m not going to tell you about the nature of his injury. I think there’s a good chance [for Sunday], I don’t want to lie, I don’t want to hide anything in relation to ‘Oh is he going to play or not’. I think he’s going to play, that’s my feeling,” the Portuguese manager added.
Tottenham currently sits top of the Premier League standings, tied on points with reigning champions Liverpool (21), but with a superior goal difference.
Arsenal on the other side sits lowly in the 14th spot after falling to a crumbling defeat to Wolverhampton Wanderers at home in the last game.
